Wednesday, November 16, 2011 On November 16th, 2011 at approximately 2333 hours the Aberdeen Fire Department was alerted for an auto fire N/B Interstate 95 MM 84.0. Engine 211 arrived on the slow shoulder to find a fully involved vehicle. Engine 211’s crew deployed the trash line, and extinguished the fire. Engine 213 arrived on scene and pulled a 2nd line, and also supplied water to Engine 211.
Wednesday, November 16, 2011 On November 16th, 2011 at approximately 1904 hours was alerted for a Dwelling Fire at 6 Grant Stret in the Alton Homes Development. Engine 211 arrived to find a 10x12 shed to the rear of the dwelling working fire (shed already on the ground). Engine 211’s crew deployed a 1 ¾ line to extinguish the fire, assisted by Engine 111 (Level). There were no other exposures on scene. The Maryland State Fire Marshal was requested to the scene, the incident is under investigation.
Sunday, October 30, 2011 On October 30th, 2011 at 1220 hours the Aberdeen Fire Department was alerted for a Dwelling Fire at 434 Washington Street. Engine 211 was enroute minutes after the alert and was advised by Harford County EOC that the side of the dwelling was on fire. Engine 211 arrived and reported smoke showing from a single story single family residence. Engine 211’s crew deployed two 1 3/4" handlines and connected to a hydrant located on Washington Street just past the incident. Engine 215 arrived and supported the first engine with staffing and deployment of a second attack 1 3/4" line. Engine 213 arrived and provided staffing for the second line and began search operations and checking for extension on the first floor. The fire was now determined to be a working basement fire and Battalion Chief 2-3 off of Engine 213 assumed command on the Alpha Side. Truck company operations were conducted (laddering the roof, ventilation) by Truck 1231. An interior attack was made through on the Charlie side of the dwelling and the crews extinguished a working basement fire. Heavy fire damage occurred in the basement with heavy heat and smoke damage also occurring on the first floor throughout the dwelling. Engine 512 provided RIT operations on scene. PPV was utilized after the fire was extinguished. Baltimore Gas and Electric was requested to the scene as well as the Maryland State Fire Marshal. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Monday, October 10, 2011 On October 10th, 2011 at approximately 1509 hours the Aberdeen Fire Department was alerted for a Motor Vehicle Accident w/Rescue in the 1400 block of South Philadelphia Boulevard.EMS units arrived on scene and begain accessing patients, which they confirmed two trapped patients. Vehicles were secured via supression personnel, both patients were extricated from the vehicles.Command (BC 2-4 Smith) requested the Maryalnd State Police Medivac x2 to have both patients transported via medivac helicopter due to there injuries.The cause of the accident remains under investigation by police.Below are a couple pictures taken later at the scene.
Saturday, August 20, 2011 On Saturday August 20th, 2011 the Aberdeen Fire Department members paid tribute, standing by overpasses during "America's 911 Ride" to remember those lost on 911. This ride was the LARGEST police escorted motorcycle in history. The ride started in Shanksville, PA, on August 18th, at the Memorial site of Flight 93's crash and travels to the Pentagon and then on August 19th, then to the World Trade Centers site in New York City on August 20th. Thursday, July 14, 2011 On Thursday July 14th, 2011 at approximately 1734 hours the Aberdeen Fire Department was alerted for an engine to assist at 2217 Castleton Road for a Dwelling Fire. Engine 211 went enroute shortly after dispatch and arrived performing overhaul and assisting with positive pressure ventilation, as a result of a basement fire in the dwelling.
Saturday, July 2, 2011 On Saturday July 2nd, 2011 at approximately 0915 hours the Aberdeen Fire Department was alerted for an Auto Fire on Farm Road. Fire department personnel could observe smoke above the tree line as they were enroute to the station. Batallion Chief 2-3 (E. Budnick) arrived on scene and advised two vehicles on fire and a third vehicle is near and is also an exposure problem. On arrive Engine 211 crews pulled two handlines, extinguished both vehicles and a small running fuel fire. Engine 213 and Engine 215 crews assisted with extinguishment. A third vehicle was wet down and damage was due to radiant heat to plastic material melting on side of vehicle and paint.
Friday, June 24, 2011 On Friday June 24th, 2011 at approximately 0203 hours the Aberdeen Fire Department was alerted for a Dwelling Fire in the area of Bush Chapel Road/Stepney Road. Engine 213 arrived on scene with Chief 1 (Level) to find a 1.5 story single family dwelling with fire showing from the A/D corner of the house, appearing to start on the exterior. Chief 1 assumed command while Engine 213 pulled an 150ft. 1.75 attack line from the front bumper. Engine 213's crew knocked most of the fire from the exterior of the building. Engine 213 crew and Engine 411's crew (Abingdon) then proceeded into the dwelling were there was medium smoke conditions and some fire in the walls. Engine 411's remaining crew pulled a second 1.75 line off the rear of Engine 213 and proceeded in the dwelling to check for extension in the rest of the first floor. Engine 211 and members from Engine 411 began a search of the dwelling which came up negative. Crews checked for extension throughout the structure and started ventilation in the dwelling the house to remove smoke conditions. APGFD Truck 1231 also cut a hole in the roof for vent. The Maryland State Fire Marshall was requested to the scene and after investigating crews resumed overhaul duties. Units then cleared the scene. Fire is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshall's Officer. No injuries on scene to civilian or firefighter personnel
Wednesday, June 1, 2011 On Wednesday June 1st, 2011 at approximately 1844 hours the Aberdeen Fire Departmenet was alerted for an Automatic Alarm. Harford County EOC then realerted the assignment as a Building Fire. Engine 213 arrived on scene with nothing showing, Engine 211 arrived at the sprinkler system, crews made there way to the 2nd floor, where smoke conditions were found, and then to the third 3rd floor where heavier smoke conditions were found. A handline was stretched to the 3rd floor, where the fire was contained to an ac unit in one of the rooms. Crews from Level assisted with ventilation via PPV and conducted searches of the 2nd and 3rd floor, APGFD Truck 1231 assisted with throwing ground ladders as well as laddering the roof of the motel. No injuries to civilian personnel of fire personnel. Units cleared within an hour or so after some overhaul and ventilation of the building.
Wednesday, May 4, 2011 Shortly before 10an on Tuesday May 4th the Aberdeen Fire Department, Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire Department, and the Susqahanna Hose Company were dispatched for a reported dwelling fire in the unit block of Norman Ave. Engine 213 arrived quickly with fire showing from the attic. 25 personnel operating 4 Engines and a Tower were were able to quickly contain the fire within ten minutes and most of the fire damage was limited to the attic of the home. The call was quickly scaled back to Company 2 units and all units cleared within two hours. The incident is under investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshall.
