Friday, July 2, 2010 - The Aberdeen Fire Department is mourning the loss of Past Ladies Auxiliary and Auxiliary Member Ruth Storey on Friday July 2nd, 2010.
Ms. Storey was a member of the Aberdeen Fire Department for 40 years, highlighted by her contributions to the Ladies Auxiliary, and hard work at various fundraisers such as Christmas Street and various other activities put on by the Aberdeen Fire Department and the City of Aberdeen. Ms. Storey could always be found in the kitchen helping out and stopping by the firehouse on a weekly basis cleaning and assisting the members with daily activities in the firehouse. She will greatly be missed by all of us.
Ruth Jewell Storey, age 79 of Aberdeen died Friday, July 2, 2010 in Lorien at Riverside. Born in Wilmington, DE the daughter of the late Howard and Ruth Ware. Beloved wife of the late Horace Lee Storey. Cherished mother of Wayne Storey and wife Debie of FL, Diane Sterbak and husband Fritz of Havre de Grace, Bruce D. Storey of Aberdeen, Sandra Peregoy and husband Michael of Bowley's Quarters and the late Horace S. Storey. Dear grandmother of Michael, Lee, Aaron and Brian Storey, T.J. Behrens, Tara Baldwin, Amber, Brooke, Michael II, and Matthew Peregoy. Loving great-grandmother of Chase and Connor Storey and Juliet Behrens. She is also survived by sister Barbara Powell of NJ. Ruth was a proud member of the Aberdeen Fire Dept. for over 40 years. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, a American Heart Assoc. volunteer and retired from APG as a EKG Technician.
The family will receive friends in the family owned Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home, P.A. of Aberdeen on Wednesday, July 7 from 4-8pm. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Donnie Smith will be celebrated Thursday, July 8 at 11am in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Harford Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Assoc. 415 N. Charles St, Baltimore, MD 21201.
A wake will follow the funeral service on Thursday morning at the Aberdeen Fire Department, Main Station located at 21 North Rogers Street.
