Thursday, June 10, 2010 - On June 10th, 2010 at 0657 hours the Aberdeen Fire Department was alerted for an Automatic Alarm at 419 Washington Street.
Engine 211 went en route, where they were advised that the alarm company was advised smoke detector activation on the 2nd floor.
Engine 211 arrived on Side Alpha, observed smoke coming from the 2nd floor, immediately requested a box assignment. Lt. Diering was met on Side Alpha by the homeowner, who advised she had just gone out for a minute and arrived back home, all occupants were confirmed out of the dwelling.
Engine 211's crew deployed a 1 3/4 preconnect line to the 2nd floor Side Delta, found the bulk of the fire in an upstairs bedroom. Tower 231/Truck 1231 crew arrived and assisted with ventilation and checking for extension. The fire was knocked in approximately 5 minutes. Damage to the dwelling on the whole 2nd fire with smoke damage and fire damage to the one bedroom.

Command was initially held by Lieutenant Curtis Diering Jr. later transferred to Chief 2 (Hinch)
Chief 2 also requested the Maryland State Fire Marshal to the scene, the cause of the fire is believed to be discarded smoking materials.
Units cleared the scene at around 0755 hours.
