On Wednesday March 10th, 2010 the Aberdeen Fire Department was alerted for an Automatic Alarm at approximately 0342 hours. Dispatch advised Battalion Chief 2-1 (D Budnick) that the alarm company had recontacted dispatch and advised they received a call from the business that there was a fire and then hung up.
A box was alerted approximately 5 minutes after dispatch as a Building Fire. Engine 213 arrived Side Alpha with nothing evident, crew was met by security, crew was then redirected to Charlie side of the building. The building was evacuated upon arrival.
Crew of Engine 213 located a box compactor on fire on the interior of the building with one sprinkler head activated. The machine still had active fire w/ several box loads still on fire inside the machine. Crew pulled front 1 3/4 line. Truck 1231 arrived to assist 213 and begin ventilation w/ PPV's. Truck 231 arrived to assist in ventilation and utilities. Engine 512 supplied 213 w/ one 3" line, approximately 1000 gallon water used.

Units cleared the scene approximately 0500 hours.
