On Friday January 22nd, 2010 at approximately 0024 hours the Aberdeen Fire Department was alerted for Tower 231 to respond to an Apartment Fire in the area of 103 Donzen Drive in Bel Air. Upon the initial dispatch Chief 3 was advised of numerous calls reporting fire inside and outside of the apartment complex.
Tower 231 responded immediately after the initial alert, was instructed by command to ladder the roof with the tower on Side Delta of the exposure structure, and ventilate. Crew ventilated the roof, with one cut on the Side Alpha side and one cut on the Side Charlie side of the roof.
Tower 231 then deployed a 50’ section of 1 ¾ to assist the interior crews on extinguishing the fire and cooling down hot spots. All crews did an outstanding job, no injuries to firefighters, one civilian was transported to a local hospital.
